How to Buy an HDTV

As HDTV adoption continues its rapid growth, the options available to consumers become more attractive and cost-effective, but also much more confusing...

Cable or Satellite?
DIRECTV or DISH?
Channel Options?
Buy or Lease the Equipment?
HD-DVR?

There is plenty of information on the web about buying high-def televisions, with options ranging from rear-projection to plasma to LCD. That is, if you know where to find it, and once you do, if you can understand it. However, there is scant information available regarding the service and programming options available to consumers in individual cities, and nothing that compares side-by-side the various cable and satellite HDTV packages from which consumers can choose. We do all of this and more in a common sense, easy-to-understand format.

You could talk to a salesperson at your local consumer electronics store, but odds are good that he's going to try to sell you on a system that makes him a good commission. Not exactly objective advice.

BuyingHDTV.com offers objective, independent advice and buying comparisons to help you make a smart decision about your HDTV service. We're not selling you anything, so our information is truly unbiased. This site is intended to be a starting point in your HD journey so that when you're ready to buy a system, you can be confident that you've explored all your options and have made the right decision for you.
